Blooming in the Rain !

It fell on my hand first. I looked upThe next one fell on my cheekI opened my mouth a bit; to let out a gasp of unexpected happiness or to quench my thirst - I don't know, it was just involuntary. By the time the raindrops fell rapidly on me, the hills in the distance seemed blurred with curtains of thick rain drops. I opened my arms wide to welcome the cool downpour. The raindrops hit quite harshly on my face, yet my smile grew; 'cos I knew it would eventually soften up. It ain't strange how it reminded me of you. Yeah, your thought have become so forceful, am unable to push them to the back of my mind. But strangely enough, the thoughts are not of how much I miss you, but how much I feel you close to me, at this very moment. Maybe the reason is this enchanting rain or the murmuring songs of these birds. Strange, how the bird chirping seems so much like human voices as I pay more attention.. I sway around in the breeze to ... Gasp! The bus stop near my office is jam- packed & all eyes are stuck on me. Oh and me, I have never wished more that I could vanish. Drenched from head to toe, I fumble within my handbag for the umbrella and pompously open it. Not that I could get any more wet than I already was; but it did help me hide my face from all those staring, amused, jeering, inquisitive stares.

Why did this rain choose to fall now and spin me into my dream world??

Huh! Less than ten minutes and my reverie gloriously turns to a nightmare. Hmm…Wondering which bus stop I shall be using from tomorrow

  1. Follow your heart Meenakshi. You can change bus stops. You can change the wet clothes. Two things you can never change are people's attitude and the joy get from drenching yourself in the rain. Why bother to change them, even?

  2. @ Ekan:
yeah yeah.. very easy actually to go everyday and stand around pakka professional people who measure the width of their smiles every time they cant control it when you have made a complete fool of yourself..

Guess my skin need to be much more thicker to be able to do it. :P

  3. i would have loved 2 be around someone making a complete clown of themselves!!! :D

being a normal person i can't help but laugh at ur peril :P

  4. @ Blunt:
Yeah I knew you would..only reason m extending the crown-the-clown moments to my blog as well.
And it wouldn't hv been that embarrassing if people around wud have laughed it off too.. they just stood there with solemn smiles, a sneer, a poor-she-gone-crazy looks... Professionalss.. bah! when r they gonna get as crazy as us artist...

  5. Excellent post :)

Loved the way you drew a picture through your words. I could almost see through your narration. I agree with Ekan on the need to 'not care' about the people who enjoy making fun of others.

Hope you had a good time enjoying the rains. Please send some rain for me too :)

Stay in touch and keep up the wonderful work.

  6. lol.. :D That's funny. I've had similar experiences. But don't ask me what. :-)
Then again who gives a damn about people? Just got to have fun.
Well, I really liked your narrative style. Write more and let me read more. Cheerios! :-)

  7. I think you you should not even change the bus stop.. Go ahead the change those people who cannot enjoy the rain...

  8. @Chatterbox: Thanks dear. Will surely keep in touch. About rain, I'll surely tell it to come your way and drench u in happiness. :)

@Karthik: Wow! I take it as a great compliment coming from you.Surely will write more. Do keep reading though.

@ Farila: Not that I dint want to, but I actually did not change the bus stop..

@to all: I continue going to the same bus stop. Guess what? The Hitler-ish look on the people around has somehow changed a bit. lot of heads turn when I come to the stop and give feeble smiles that reach their eyes and I return them. Guess, they all actually weren't criticizing but amused. It was just I who felt too embarrassed. Good to b greeted by smiling faces on the bus stop. But next time it rains, I shall wait to enjoy it till I get home.. The cold & cough from the last drenching hasn't quite left me yet!!!
